The fourth season of The Boys It’s officially underway and by the looks of it, it’s doing great. The first three, much talked about, episodes shed light on old and new, unexpected protagonists, some of whom would seem to be “known” faces to the most attentive. If you haven’t seen the new episodes yet, we warn you: small spoilers ahead!
Well, are you still here? Hold on tight, especially if you’re a Marvel lover! Vought has a very specific task in this fourth season: reform the Seven. After Starlight’s voluntary resignation and Maeve’s faked death, the time has come to find their replacements. Difficult task but not impossible, given the wide range of possible candidates from which Patriota has full freedom to choose. Vought CEO Ashley Barrett has provided a slate of faces for the leader of the Seven to select from, with some looking decidedly “familiar” to many – especially among Marvel fans. There is also no shortage of obvious references to Gen V, with Tek Knight – one of the progenitors of the spin-off series – appearing in the list of possible candidates.
The first reference to the Marvel universe is Dr. Peculiar, or a clear reference to the much more well-known and high-sounding Doctor Strange, protagonist of the cinematic events linked to the MCU. Faithful to the comic book counterpart of The Boys, Dr. Peculiar is a supe who runs a brothel for other supes, something absolutely in line with the tone of voice of the TV series. The second big reference to Marvel is Groundhawk, one of the most famous faces for fans of The Boys comics. The mask of the super it’s very similar to Wolverine’s and, instead of claws, he only has clubs instead of hands. In the comics Groundhawk suffers a serious brain injury from Billy Butcher, which is why he only ever says one word: “Skirt“. So all we have to do is fly with our imagination, waiting to find out what will happen in the final episodes of The Boys.
