The event is a ttribute to the deceased artist in January 2023 and offers a selection of his most mature works, carefully chosen by Vincenzo Pellitta and Edoardo Maffeo. In the video, the inauguration of the 15th at 5pm.

Vincenzo Parea, born in 1940 in Vigevanoit was a leading figure of constructivism in contemporary Italian painting. Since the late 1960s, you have been exploring color analytical values and the emotional dimension of light, focusing on the structural values of the painted image. His works, influenced by the aniconic avant-garde of the 60s and 70s, guide the observer towards an essential and all-encompassing pictorial experience. At the center of Parea’s artistic research was the vision of color in its infinite events, the changing variations of light and the tensions between visible and invisible. His paintings, characterized by pure, delicate and lyrical colors, show overlaps or differentiations, convergences and juxtapositions. Color thus becomes the means of an action and the sign of a thought, treated with “alchemical” care. Parea’s works are distinguished by the use of a single tone, never absolute, which moves in rarefactions and densifications, reaching formal results that are dreamlike and, at times, esoteric. Although the vocabulary and grammar of his painting may appear reduced to a minimal repertoire, the syntax of his works is rich in expansion. His art, thought out and meditated on, opens up to new formulas and lexicons. Parea has always worked on “low perception”, inviting viewers to observe his works for a long time to grasp the composition of signs and colors that emerges on the surface. An intriguing aspect of his works is the dilemma of whether color creates light or light generates color. This enigma remains unsolved, but as Alberto Veca points out, observation of multiple Parea paintings reveals the voice of each specific color – red, blue, black – which touches not only our perception but also our soul, arousing deep emotions and feelings, freeing us from any conditioning.

Opening hours: Friday from 3pm to 7pm; Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 10am to 12.30pm and from 3pm to 7pm. Open until 7 July.
