In Caorle Enel cabins transformed into palettes by street-art artists – Nordest24

Caorle (VE), 11 May 2024 – “Sea, fishing and traditions”, this is the common thread of the works created in Caorle (VE), for the “Caorle Sea Festival 2024”, a street art event now in its second edition, which from 26 April to 10 May saw 18 internationally renowned artists arrive in the town on the Venetian coast, called to express themselves with strokes of color on large surfaces of public and private buildings. Among the 20 works produced there are also those created by Cuboliquido, Any About New York And David Karsenty on three cabins made available by E-Distribuzionewhich thus add to the numerous artistic interventions promoted by the company in this type of structures throughout Italy.

Very central, on the cabin of Viale Santa Margheritais the work of the Milanese Cuboliquido, eclectic street painter – he can also boast the title of Maestro Madonnaro – known throughout the world for his works performed with 3D anamorphic technique. For the Caorle Sea Festival he presents “Mr. Tin Diver an a Plastic Love Rescue Story”, a work in which he wanted to combine his passion as a collector of vintage and forgotten toys with the need to raise public awareness of the problem, which has now become almost rhetorical, of plastic pollution in the seas.
As often happens with the artist’s works, the wall becomes the canvas on which to tell a story. Here the protagonist is an old tin diver named Tin-Tin, an ancient inhabitant of the sea of forgotten games. One day, during one of his underwater adventures in the abandoned toy box, he encounters something surprising: Barbie Marmeid, visibly neglected and out of fashion. Tin-Tin, the romantic diver, sees beyond his creased plastic and realizes that it is the stroke of luck of his life. He decides to take the mermaid to his cardboard home, where toys of all kinds live happily, abandoned and a little wrinkled like him. Thus begins a wacky romance between Tin-Tin and the vintage mermaid: they exchange old-fashioned jokes and laughs about how old-fashioned they are, and the love grows. Tin-Tin, the hero of neglected games, teaches the mermaid to be proud of herself, regardless of the wrinkles in the plastic. The message that this modern fairy tale wants to send is as simple as it is impactful: even if the world can discard you like an old toy, there is always someone who is ready to offer you a second chance. And if you find someone who loves your rumpled side, then you’ve found your Tin-Tin.

The second cabin object of intervention was that of Via Martiri delle Foibe in the locality Eighth trick. Here the Paduan Any About New York with her “Turtle on wheels” wants to express his concern about plastic pollution in the seas. The artist wants to highlight this theme with a work created with stencils which has a futuristic turtle as its protagonist. The street artist imagines it as the product of a genetic mutation and depicts it with the carapace replaced by a large tyre, a symbol of pollution that is definitively taking over nature. The choice of bold and intense colors such as black, blue and orange is embellished with small details made with a special silver paint that reflects the sun’s rays.

Any About New Yorkin combination with French David Karsenty, is also the architect of the work carried out in Via dell’Astese. On the blue background of the cabin, two characters appeared interacting with each other and were immediately recognized and appreciated by the young students of the adjacent Morvillo Falcone school. It’s about the “Dancer” of Any (one of his most iconic works) dancing, muscles tense and eyes closed, among splashes of colour: it symbolizes the power of the artistic gesture, which goes beyond barriers and limits. Further down, almost shyly, a dwarf from the Snow White fairy tale looks at her, naturally revisited by the pop eye of the French Karsenty. Not only two artists but also two techniques meet: Any About New York worked with stencils and spray cans, Karsenty instead uses past-up: the work is created in the studio and then applied to the wall and finalized with manual interventions.
