The issue of the famous seismic precursors, or those particular variations of some scientific parameters that can let us know that a strong earthquake is coming, is still one of the main debates in seismology. Before a large earthquake, in fact, the stress states that accumulate under the earth’s surface cause changes in various parameters. For decades, attempts have been made to understand whether some variations can actually represent a reliable seismic precursor, including for example the concentration of radon gas but not only. Before the Amatrice earthquake on August 24, already in March-April, it seems that the concentration of Iron, Vanadium, Arsenic and Chromium had increased up to 20 times.
