The Russians “plow” the streets of Kharkiv with incessant bombing, the Ukrainians respond by attacking Sevastopol and its installations. A “long-range” duel that causes casualties among civilians, with moves and countermoves on the chessboard of the conflict.
Kiev forces, as in the past, have intensified operations by hitting anti-aircraft and radar sites for days. The resistance has relied on drones, on American Atacms systems that launch different types of “projectiles”, on “swarm” actions. On several occasions the Ukrainians managed to overcome the shield, also taking advantage of a possible movement of batteries from Crimea towards the Belgorod region. A transfer – some explain – due to the fear of heavy incursions in the Russian border areas.
Coups and propaganda
The Moscow military commands claimed responsibility for the interception of numerous bombs, as did the Ukrainians in the propaganda duel. The flashes of the explosions, the damage, the deaths in both camps show that it is not possible to block every blow.
Putin’s air force, for its part, has continued along a well-defined profile.
1) Massive raids with the use of glide bombs, including three-ton ones. The videos showed its relative precision but its devastating effects. They crumble everything. Palaces, trenches, posts. 2) Destruction of infrastructure and electricity grid. They did it in the winter, they continue to do it at the beginning of the summer. It is a demolition that has an immediate impact (blackout) and even more serious consequences for the months to come. 3) The campaign is in support of the land offensive but also a way to “break” the enemy’s rear, terrorize and exhaust the population. 4) The number of kamikaze drones remains high employed: according to some sources, new models have recently been used, including the Iranian Arash 2 (150 kilogram warhead, 2,000 kilometer range).
The Kiev guidelines
Ukraine responded with incursions elaborated by intelligence and conventional units through the development of means/tactics. Also here the guidelines are clear. Target the slopes. Put oil plants out of action. Conduct reprisals. Bring effective blows and create logistical problems. Keep the Kremlin worried right in Crimea: in fact, the adoption of other protections (barriers, barges) has been reported in front of the Kerch bridge, a primary objective. Pressure on NATO to provide new missile systems capable of hindering fighters, an indispensable aid to fill a constant shortage that has favored the maneuvers of aggressors.
The international repercussions of the battle were inevitable, given the equipment. For Moscow, the Ukrainians are assisted by the West, with advisors and intelligence that improve the “shot”. Volodymyr Zelensky’s assessment is different and, even in the last few hours, he asked the allies to remove restrictions and vetoes on the possibility of striking the most distant bases located in Russia.
