David Cameron: «We must stop the ghost fleet that transports Putin’s oil»

The former Prime Minister and now Foreign Minister of Great Britain David Cameron says that Russia has a ghost fleet that transports its oil around the world. Illegally. And that he wants ships to be blocked every time they approach an Italian port. To show Putin that the whole West is with Ukraine. Cameron speaks in an interview with Corriere della Sera. In which she praises the Italian Prime Minister: «We are coordinating closely with the Italian Presidency. Our prime minister is truly pleased with his relationship with Prime Minister Meloni. They work together in a very constructive way.”

The hunt for Putin

The first thing Cameron would like to see «are really tough sanctions against Russian companies and individuals who help continue this war and supply the Russian war machine. Since Brexit, we have built our arsenal of sanctions and today we are announcing new ones. Crucially, they are not just limited to companies operating in Britain or Europe – we hunt them all over the world. So we will sanction companies in China, in Turkey, in Kyrgyzstan, even in Israel, that we believe are supplying dual-use material for the Russian war machine.”

Then there is the hunt for the phantom fleet that brings Russian oil illegally around the world: «Every time they get close to an Italian port, I want to make sure they are blocked. We will show Putin that we are fully behind Ukraine. We will chase the money, the oil, we will stop the gas, we will stop the ships. We will do everything we can to stop the Russian war machine and show Putin the folly of his actions.”

Support for Ukraine

Cameron adds: «The party I helped found, the ECR, is led capably by Giorgia Meloni: she is one of the leading lawyers in supporting Ukraine and in repelling the Russian advance and Russian propaganda not only in Ukraine, but throughout the world. Something that will be discussed at the G7 that you are hosting.”

Finally, the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom disputes the thesis that Kiev is losing: «Ukraine sank 25% of the Russian Black Sea fleet; they lost a small amount of ground, but nothing compared to the huge chunk of territory they conquered after repelling the Russian invasion: and now we see the much more effective artillery supplied by the Americans being used. Ukraine has the right to self-defense and that also means, if you have Russian troops massing across the border, using weapons to stop them. From the point of view of international law and common sense, Kiev has the right to strike Russian forces as they organize to enter Ukraine.”
