There wasn’t even time to digest Iran’s nocturnal attack on Israel and already in Italy Tehran’s justificationist party had taken the field, committed to promoting the reasons of the Ayatollahs. With the Palestine jersey disused for a few hours, collectives, left-wing extremists, radical movements but also commentators and politicians rushed to don the green, white, red jersey of Iran, putting themselves in the front row to blame Israel even when it is attacked. In order to take a stand against the Jewish State and the West, the Italian left would be willing to support any position, even going so far as to justify Tehran’s Islamic theocracy with a series of contradictions capable of making the Pasdaran themselves pale. Already the defense of the Palestinian cause and the justificationist positions of Hamas by those in Italy who invoke inclusiveness and LGBT rights every second was quite ridiculous but being able to legitimize Iran is the apotheosis. The most popular thesis in collective and left-wing circles is that Iran did not carry out an attack but a counter-attack after the missile that hit some Iranian diplomatic buildings in Syria in recent days and is therefore legitimate.
Power to the People writes it in black and white: «The ongoing escalation did not begin yesterday with the Iranian missiles. It started earlier, with the Israeli bombing of Iranian diplomatic offices in Syria. Have you heard any of our leaders strongly condemn the Israeli attacks?” Even better is Giuliano Granato, spokesperson for Potere al Popolo turned spokesperson for the Iranian government, who shares a tweet from the Iranian permanent mission to the United Nations and writes: «Iran claims that this evening’s military action is in response to the bombing of the consulate in Damascus and constitutes self-defense according to art. 51 of the UN Charter”.
On Saturday evening, shortly before the Iranian attack, speaking on a TV programme, Massimo D’Alema had instead stated: “Someone should explain to the Israelis that it is not nice to bomb diplomatic offices.” A thesis also put forward by an improvised geopolitical expert, Sabrina Ferilli, according to which: «Having Israel attacked the Iranian embassy, I doubt that flowers and chocolates were expected in exchange. And now the great fools of the world are pretending to be alarmed and worried. They? Let alone us.” Speaking of experts, Selvaggia Lucarelli echoes her by publishing a video of the Iranian missile attack on Israel, writing «the result of having allowed Israel to do what she wanted for six months». According to Fiorella Mannoia, however, it is all Netanyahu’s fault who «is destroying Gaza and Israel too, if they don’t force him to resign it will be the end. For everyone”. The leitmotif is always the same, even when Israel is attacked, it is still the fault of the Jewish State.
Not only do they not say a word of solidarity towards Israel but, with a real reversal of reality, they end up pointing the finger at those who condemn the Iranian attack. This is the case of the tweet by Chiara Geloni, historical spokesperson of Pier Luigi Bersani, who writes: «I look at the tweets of certain liberals and I wonder who the real ayatollahs are». It turns out that it will soon be discovered that the crisis in the Middle East is entirely the fault of the liberals.
In the overall picture, the deafening silence of the ANPI could not be missing which, while promoting the ceasefire for April 25th, said nothing to condemn the Iranian attack. At this point all that remains is to wait for the “queers for Tehran” to take the field, the occupations of the universities in solidarity with the Iranian Islamic theocracy and the apologetic conferences of the ayatollahs.
It’s only a matter of time, unfortunately the bad teachers already exist.
