Endless barbarism | The Slingshot

The images that reach us from Al Jazeera are terrifying.

Images that represent the zero degree of humanity and the maximum level of barbarism: a real black hole that swallows up everything good that could still remain, albeit in a residual way, to give us back only the worst face of violence and more brutal indifference.

Comparisons are always risky because the facts of history have their own uniqueness, yet in what we witness there is something that refers to the past.

Isn’t it a real Nazi retaliation where the reaction is so disproportionate as to degenerate into the most heinous and inhumane crime?

Where the rate of violence suffered is multiplied infinitely?

Isn’t it an attempt at a final solution to the Palestinian question that the Israeli government actually intends to achieve?

Isn’t the complicity and hypocrisy of the US-led West intolerable, incapable of going beyond a few timid rebukes in favor of the camera?

Finally, how much does it hurt us all to helplessly witness this endless massacre of innocents?

How can we stop this nihilistic fury of death and destruction that is spreading everywhere in the world?
