Born in Scotland in 1960, Smith has always had a great passion for dance and she started dancing when she was three years old. In fact, she studied classical dance and, after having also studied modern, jazz and African dance, at the age of 15 she specialized in Latin American dance and began to participate in the first competitions at a competitive level. In 1976, instead participates for the first time in the European Championship and ranks seventh.
Carolyn later takes part in other international competitions such as the World Championship, the Blackpool Dance Festival and the Grand Slam. The transfer to Italy instead takes place in 1986 when, due to a bad injury, she retired from sport dance starting a career as a teacher and choreographer. In fact, in 2012 she founded her own dance school, the Carolyn Smith Dance Academy, which is present today in nine locations throughout Italy and in other locations around the world.
