The one that recently ended was an episode of Pomeriggio 5 News which Simona Branchetti will remember for a long time. During the live broadcast on Channel 5in fact, moments of great tension took place, with the presenter who found herself managing – not without some difficulty – an argument in front of the cameras during a connection from a Sicilian villagewhere the program correspondent had arrived to follow the case of crime news about a violent argument between two neighbors that ended in tragedy. Here’s what happened.

It all started during a live link from Mascalia small town in the Catania area. Here yesterday afternoon an argument between two men degenerated, ending in bloodshed. One of the two protagonists, Giampiero, during the argument and blinded by rage grabbed a pair of scissors and struck in the neck – killing him – Antonio, his neighbor. This, in summary, is the story given at the beginning of the connection by the Pomeriggio 5 News correspondent, who then added further details: “The victim made some comments about his daughter to the neighbor and accused him of not being a good father because of some of the girl’s friendships. Is this violence possible because of comments on the daughter’s acquaintances?”.
The correspondent then brought it in front of the camera Fabio, a friend of the victimwho in his speech revealed some unpublished background information (all to be verified) regarding the relationship between the two men: “We discovered that there was something else. The reasons were different, there is a girl, the victim’s, who…”. At that point, the man was interrupted by the sudden intervention of the mate of the deceased man, who burst onto the scene and started screaming, arguing with Fabio. The latter, clearly upset, quickly lost patience, starting to raise his voice: “I can talk. You want to tell me that the girl who came out here the other night with sunglasses wasn’t you?! So what? I talk and I also know what I’m saying. Drink less! Drunk, you need to drink less!”.
Simona Branchetti’s reaction
With tempers clearly out of control, Simona Branchetti intervened from the studio trying to restore order: “Not like that now. Giuliana, let’s leave it alone. Has Fabio calmed down? If the lady wants to intervene, fine, but the insults live, no If you want to give your version of events, that’s fine with us and we’ll listen to you. According to Fabio, she was there a rivalry between these two gentlemen, she reiterates that there was this”. The woman, however, did not shy away from the microphone, preferring not to make any statements to the correspondent. And she must also have said some unedifying phrases directed at Fabio, because suddenly the man finally lost his patience and headed towards her with a threatening air. To avoid further embarrassment, given that the situation seemed on the verge of definitively degenerating, an alarmed Branchetti quickly closed the connection: “But Fabio, don’t answer the lady, eh, ehi, no, no, no. Let’s leave the connection for a moment and go back to the studio“, concluded the journalist.
