Alberto’s wickedness (and Clara’s) in the final events of Un posto al sole

The marriage between Clara and Edoardo has tragic implications when Antonio kidnaps little Federico. But viewers remember when it was Clara herself who did a similar thing: love for children can never make us forget that there are two of us who have them, and want to raise them.

Clara arrives at the altar for her “yes” to Edoardo. But before leaving she tells everything to Alberto, who obviously tries to change her mind. During the wedding Palladini takes little Federico, and with a lot of cash, leaves by car, perhaps to kidnap the child, avoiding him ending up in the protection program which would prevent him from seeing him. The authors’ intention is clear: once again Alberto gets caught up in malice and hurts others. But viewers are divided: they all remember when it was Clara who kidnapped him, to escape with a fugitive. Both the mother and the father just want to be with their child, and, in this, there is no guilt or justification that matters. Once again, Clara is putting the child in difficulty, as well as at risk, by following Edoardo. Forgetting the rights that also belong to her father. And Alberto is doing the same. Love for children can never make us forget that it takes two to raise them and want to raise them.
