Netflix orders new episodes to conclude the story

The science fiction series did not give the desired results, but the video streaming service gave it – hopefully – a worthy ending, while creators David Benioff and DB Weiss renewed their agreement with the streamer.

The 3-body problem It has been renovated, though Netflix don’t talk about second season but simply “additional episodes” that will serve to give an ending to the story. The streamer announced it during the Upfront event held in New York. This is probably a compromise reached by the producers of the science fiction series, taken from the trilogy of the same name by the Chinese author Liu Cixinand the leaders of Netflix given the relationship between the high costs of the title (it is said further 20 million dollars an episode) and good but not excellent viewing results (according to Nielsen data “only” 1.37 billion minutes of viewing in the first 4 days of release. For comparison: Fallout of Prime Video of billions of minutes accumulated 2.9 in its first 5 days of release, more than double).

The Three-Body Problem renewed: Netflix’s announcement and the authors’ statements

“We are thrilled to be able to tell this story to its epic conclusion,” the showrunners said David Benioff, Dan Weiss And Alexander Woo in a statement. “Ever since we read the last page of Cixin Liu’s magnificent trilogy, we have hoped to be able to take the audience with us to the end of the universe. Here we are!”. It is not yet known exactly how many episodes they will have available to bring the story to a conclusion (in the past they had declared that they had a story of four seasons in mind, but it is clear that they will instead have to condense the events). In any case, Benioff and Weiss remain in business with Netflix, given that they have renewed the agreement that binds them to the video streaming service and are currently working on a new series, Death by Lightning. Same thing for Alexander Woo, also linked to the streamer by an agreement.
