With a post on Facebook last week Francesco Benigno announced that tonight, Thursday 11 April, he would enter as a competitor on L’Isola dei Famosi 2024.

The production has never confirmed the indiscretion, but it is very likely that this will happen especially after Tonia Romano’s abandonment of the reality show, we will probably find out this evening on TV during the episode which will be broadcast at 9.40pm on Canale 5. In the meantime we will find out something more about the actor.
Who is Francesco Benigno?
Francesco Benigno was born in Palermo on 4 October 1967 (he is 56 years old) is an Italian actor, director and singer. The twelfth of thirteen children, Benigno left school early to work with his father at the fruit and vegetable market in Palermo. The debut in the world of cinema happened by chance; Benigno, accompanying his friend Stefano Consiglio to an audition for the film Mery forever (1989), was noticed by director Marco Risi. Initially the director assigned him the part of Pietro, which instead went to Claudio Amendola.

Benigno was given the role of Natale, which he also played in the film’s sequel, Ragazzi Fuori (1990). He achieves great success and moves to Rome to make a career. We find him in several films, such as Christmas Vacation ’91, Last Breath (1992), Anni 90 (1992), Anni 90 – Parte II (1993) and Palermo Milano – Solo Andata (1995) with Raoul Bova and Giancarlo Giannini.
TV, theater and music
We also find Benigno in the theater and in various dramas (Un posto al sole, The squad) and TV films (La Piovra 7, the various Ultimo, Ultimo – The challenge, Ultimo – The infiltrator, Mafia women and The snake bite) . He also has no shortage of experiences in TV programmes. 2005 was the year in which Francesco Benigno took part in the second edition of the reality show The farm, hosted by Barbara d’Urso on Canale 5. Alongside his activity as an actor he also worked as a singer, recording some LPs: his song it’s called “Forget” and he has 6 albums to his credit. In 2007 he participated together with other actors from Mery per semper in the video clip of the song Pensa by Fabrizio Moro, directed by Marco Risi. The actor duetted with Marco Masini on the Ariston stage in Sanremo 2009, reciting the song “L’Italia”.
As a director, Benigno won the Silver Griffin in 2008 at the Giffoni Film Festival in the Trouble gaze section for best short film, which tells the story of two years of his childhood, from the death of his mother to his escape from home.
Private life
Francesco Benigno gets married to Valentina Magazzù on June 24, 2021 in Palermo, after seven years of engagement. The actor has two sons, Giuseppe and Manuel, born from two previous relationships. Giuseppe made him the grandfather of two splendid grandchildren: Elodie and Francesco Jr. In 2023 Benigno has another child with his wife. Giovanni Roderico Tiago was born on August 23, 2023.
The wife
Francesco and Valentina met – as the guest actor of the program venire da me said – during the casting of productions on which Benigno worked. “When I looked into her eyes she gave me what I had never found in my life. There wasn’t a role for her in the film, but I told her that I would write something to get her into the film” – the actor told Caterina Balivo. The couple worked together in 2015: Francesco created and hosted the show “Neither art nor part” together with Valentina, broadcast by Tele One. The actress in the role took part in the medium-length film “Scintilla”, directed by Francesco Benigno in 2018.
She was born in 1981 and is a talented actress. On “Today is another day”, Benigno talks about his love for Valentina before the wedding: «I have never married the mothers of my children, but now I think the time has come. Valentina made me feel the true meaning of life. I’m a romantic. When I separated and tried to woo some woman, they thought I was stupid. I spent six months behind Valentina trying to get a kiss from her. After a great friendship, love was born».

Last week with a post on Facebook the actor turned the spotlight on himself, leaking the news that he could be among the contestants of L’Isola 2024. «The authors and the network amazed me, they told me you are an important and loved character and actor and we don’t want you to enter the island together with the others, but we will let you enter the second episode already confirmed on Thursday 11 April alone super pampered ! Thanks to the authors, Mediaset and Banijay for the treatment and I’ll see you on Thursday 11th on channel 5. On April 8th I won’t be there for the first episode and so dear fans if you have better things to do go ahead as long as you’ll all be connected on the 11th to make the splash top ratings today are the numbers that make an artist important». Now the cover image of the actor’s Facebook page has changed and the logo of the Mediaset program has appeared next to the actor’s photo, so let’s say that his entry is practically certain.
