Busy American box office with the record debut of A Quiet Place – Day 1, second only to Inside Out 2, while Kevin Costner’s western opens with only 11 million in takings.
For the third weekend, Inside Out 2 stands out in testa al box office USA grossing another $57.4 million, bringing the film to a domestic total of $469.3 million. Record-breaking figures that revive the box office in American theaters and allow Pixar to celebrate a new milestone: Inside Out 2 is the first film of the year to surpass $1 billion at the global box office. Directed by Kelsey Mann, the animated sequel introduces a whole new cast of emotions that are brought to the headquarters when the young heroine of the story, Riley, becomes a teenager. Joy, sadness, anger, fear and disgust are not so sure how to feel in the face of the arrival of anxiety, envy, boredom and embarrassment.
But the debut of A Quiet Place: Day 1 is also record-breaking exceeds expectations grossing $53 million from 3,707 theaters and scoring a per-theater average of $14,297. An impressive performance especially considering the absence from the prequel of both director and creator of the franchise John Krasinski and protagonist Emily Blunt. The American public, however, does not seem to have received the appeal of Kevin Costner launched with Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1. Poor attendance in the opening weekend of the epic western that tells the story of the colonization of the West during the Civil War. The box office stopped at 11 million collected in 3,334 theaters and the film marks an average per theater of 3,299 dollars, throwing into uncertainty the sequel of the franchise that should include a total of four chapters of three hours each.
Bad Boys: Ride or Die drops to fourth place and retains second place, adding another 10.3 million to a total that surpasses 165 million in four weeks. Global audiences seem to have welcomed the return of the wild cop duo made up of Will Smith e Martin Lawrencerewarding the film with 332 million in takings. Rounding out the top 5 is the Indian film Kalki 2898 ADwhich grossed $5.4 million from just 1,049 theaters.
