Luca Guastella was 28 years old and was a resident of Fino Mornasco, in the province of Como: he died in a fatal accident while riding a motorbike along provincial road 9, on Lake Valvestino in the territory of Gargnano, a small municipality in the province of Brescia. On Sunday 30 June, just before 12pm, he apparently lost control of the vehicle and hit his brother Alessandro’s two-wheeler, then ending up tumbling on the asphalt, falling into a cliff. Their cousin was also with them: the family members watched the tragedy helplessly. The body was recovered not without difficulty with the help of the air ambulance which took off from Brescia. The operations also involved Valsabbia mountain rescue technicians who lowered themselves into the slope with a winch.
His brother, 31, was also injured in the crash: he broke his collarbone, but he still tried to help his brother. He was transferred to the Gavardo hospital (and admitted with a yellow code) by an ambulance that arrived on the scene. The road remained closed for a long time to allow for rescue operations and safety: the firefighters and local police were also on site, and were entrusted with the necessary surveys.

Luca Guastella was on a trip to Lake Garda with his brother and cousin: a great motorcycle enthusiast, he never missed an opportunity to organize suggestive trips and it seems it was not the first time he faced the roads of the upper lake, including Valvestino. He worked in Switzerland for a company specialized in the production of computer components. A volunteer for the Red Cross of San Fermo della Battaglia, he was very active in the life of his town.
The body of the young man remains at the disposal of the judicial authorities who could order further investigations. The prosecutor’s office is currently investigating to clarify the dynamics of the accident.
