At the third edition of the Leo Brugnone d’oro award, organized on Saturday evening at the multipurpose structure of Pianto Romano in Marsala, the Libyan sports clubs and realities that stood out the most in the 2023/24 sporting year were awarded.
The event was organized to remember a young man from Marsala who passed away 24 years ago at the age of seventeen. Leo Brugnone was a young man like many others, with a strong propensity for sport with the motto “play, play while you can”. Leo, who tragically passed away in 2000, was remembered on stage by his family and his cousin Sergio Alagna, creator of the Leo Brugnone D’oro award.
Among the various companies, gyms and individual athletes awarded there was also Gaspare Ventimiglia’s Miles_Thenx with some of the athletes who last May were protagonists in the national calisthenics final in Fontanellato in the province of Parma. The award was recognized for the entire movement created by coach Ventimiglia himself, who, together with his most representative athletes, gave the audience a demonstration of what calisthenics is.
The Leo Brugnone d’oro prize was awarded to Miles_Thenx for the results obtained in the national final by Ignazio Giglio (pictured), first in the male skills category for the years from 27 to 40, Nino Giacalone placed second in the male skills category for the ages from 18 to 27, fourth place in the advanced class obtained by Gaspare Ventimiglia (in the photo), in the intermediate endurance class by Simone Buonocore (in the photo) and seventh place obtained by Lorenzo Noè, in the men’s intermediate skills class. Two out of five athletes occupied the highest steps of the podium in their respective categories, placing Marsala calisthenics among the excellence of the city’s sport.
“An award that I can only share with the athletes who follow me and trust me – declared Ventimiglia on stage at the moment of the award ceremony – I can only be proud of my work for what, without even realizing it, is being created in the inside my work space, where every day I see more and more passion among my students for this discipline which is slowly growing in interest.”
The activities of Miles_Thenx, managed by the staff born within the gym, will not stop for the summer of 2024 and other dates of other events will be announced soon, where Gaspare Ventimiglia’s boys will perform and also involve the public.
