Public meeting on fallow deer and wild boars

A careful analysis of the emergency of deer and wild pigs, that of
yesterday in Castellana Sicula during a crowded, constructive meeting
and collaborative, in which the events that led to
led to the expansion of ungulates in and outside the park area
wild animals and the initiatives implemented by the organization to combat them
the diffusion.
A long journey that began years ago and is now about to begin
materialize with the implementation of the various management processes,
overcoming the various critical issues, especially infrastructural ones, that so much
influenced optimal implementation of the activities. Among the most
relevant to start a path that will also allow optimization
the use of animals deriving from deer control operations,
through a specific specification for the use of meat
resulting from the removed items, through a storage center now
close to inauguration. Objective: to remove vigorously and in
full compliance with national and regional regulations
demographic expansion of these wildlife species to protect the
biodiversity, anthropic activities and citizen safety.
“Profitable meeting – for the Commissioner of the Madonie Park Authority
Salvatore Caltagirone – during which the territory expressed
appreciation for the work carried out by the organization in recent months
has perfected the pieces that will soon allow us to start a
constant flow of activity which, from the culling of the animals to the
distribution, at an obviously symbolic price, will serve to support
part of the processes and will close the circle of the problem. It is no longer the
a time for controversy, but for constructive and proactive dialogue”.
In this sense, with a view to an adaptive management based
on the continuous analysis of all wildlife-environmental data and
a progressive optimization of management, among the hypotheses advanced,
including the implementation of protection systems for the
agricultural activities, interventions among other things already foreseen in the plans but for
for which, however, financial coverage is not currently foreseen.
And it is precisely on this point that an extraordinary opportunity has arisen
proposed by the President of the GAL Madonie Francesco Migliazzo who has
suggested to intercept specific sources of funding still
unused.
The meeting, organized in synergy between the Park Authority and the Municipality of
Castellana, was expertly moderated by Anselmo Intrivici,
President of the Council of the Madonie town as well as an expert in
health matters, which has taken on the task of disseminating as much as possible
in the territory the initiatives implemented by the various bodies for
address and remove critical issues.
For Intrivici, “An information journey begins and we also hope
training for local operators to do
understand how this criticality, which is putting at risk the
environmental biodiversity, can actually constitute an important
opportunities for the Madonie area”.
Present in addition to numerous citizens, breeders and producers, some
mayors, the President of the GAL Madonie Francesco Migliazzo, technicians of
sector, civil and military authorities, including the local commander
Company Cc captain Salvatore Mancuso, Spontaneous Committees of
citizens, to testify the importance of the problem and the activities
have for the territory and on the population with implications on the
security, the protection of the territory and future opportunities.
