The Prefect of Ascoli Piceno Sante Copponi chaired a meeting to share organizational measures aimed at preventing dangers to public safety and to effectively manage any critical issues or emergencies that may involve those who frequent the mountain areas of the provincial territory.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Mayor of Ascoli Piceno, the Mayors of Acquasanta Terme, Arquata del Tronto, Montemonaco, the Commanders of the Carabinieri Departments of the Sibillini Mountains and Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga Parks, representatives of the Marche Region, the Fire Brigade, the Forestry Carabinieri, the National Alpine and Speleological Rescue Corps, and the Sibillini Mountains National Park.

During the meeting, after having examined and studied in depth the procedures and resources of men and means that are currently made available by each Institution, particular attention was paid to the mountain resorts with the greatest tourist vocation which, especially in this period, are reached by a considerable number of visitors.

Prefect Copponi, at the end of the meeting, announced the adoption of a Directive containing what was effectively shared during the meeting and, in particular, the need to better foresee any critical issues of civil protection that arise from the use of mountain places, the prevention of dangerous situations through scrupulous monitoring of weather warnings issued by the Region, the indispensable management of communication and information to the population on the correct and prudential approach to the mountains.
