New Flaminio stadium for Lazio: Gualtieri-Lotito meeting on the project soon

The Flaminio sports facility in Rome could become the new Lazio stadium. A meeting between the mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri and the president of Lazio, Claudio Lotito, on the redevelopment project. The first step was taken by the Biancoceleste president a few days ago, when in a letter sent to the Municipality of Rome, he asked for a meeting with the mayor, expressing a formal interest. “I have carried out a series of checks and analyses for the development of a feasibility plan to make the Flaminio stadium in Rome the home of SS Lazio. Obviously we are interested in developing a plan” for restructuring, in full “compliance with current regulations”, we read in a passage of Senator Lotito’s letter. For its part, the Campidoglio immediately said it was ready to meet with SS Lazio. In these hours there are contacts between the staff of Mayor Gualtieri and Lazio to set the meeting for the presentation of the project for the Flaminio stadium. Next Monday, President Lotito will communicate to the Campidoglio the chosen day among those proposed.

After the letter from President Lotito, “we have given dates for a possible meeting, already next week, so we will meet shortly,” said yesterday the mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri. “The letter expressed the will to show a project to make the Flaminio stadium for Lazio. We are happy that there is this will. As we are doing with AS Roma, we will move, in compliance with the rules, to facilitate this process,” concluded the mayor. Even the councilor for Urban Planning of Rome Capital, Maurizio Veloccia, in recent days, as soon as he received the letter of expression of interest in the Flaminio Stadium, immediately said he was ready to meet SS Lazio “and to examine in depth any proposal they may wish to submit to us. The fact that the Stadio Flaminio and, more generally, the entire quadrant are finally back at the center of attention with various regeneration proposals finds in the Administration not only an attentive interlocutor but also a fully active subject to promote the recovery of this historic and important sports facility of the city”, commented Councilor Veloccia. Currently the Flaminio structure, in terms of number of seats, is not suitable. Lazio records an average of over 45 thousand spectators, so the new facility should have at least a hospitality of 50 thousand places. An extra ring and a roof to also host European matches.
