FASANO – Patrizia passed away a year ago. A violent tear that we still can’t mend. Perhaps it is because of this amazement that we continue to chase ghosts, that we continue to believe that there are still too many holes, too many voids in the reconstruction of the death of Patrizia Nettis, our 41-year-old colleague found lifeless in her home in Fasano on the morning of June 29, 2023. Suicide. That’s what the carabinieri sentenced immediately after the body was found. An instantaneous tam tam: “she committed suicide, she committed suicide.”

“Madam, you committed suicide”, the words said to Rosanna Angelillo, Patrizia Nettis’ mother, that afternoon 12 months ago. But Rosanna never believed this story (probably no mother would be willing to believe it) and that’s why on this dark anniversary she continues to repeat “I’m just waiting for answers”.

Answers to what questions, Mrs. Angelillo?

“Many, so many. Why has the autopsy never been done? Why, despite our insistence, our doubts, the requests made by our lawyer, does the Prosecutor’s Office not want to exhume the body and order this blessed autopsy? Why has no one ever performed tests on the clothes Patrizia was wearing and the sheet around her neck?”

Where are the clothes and sheet now?

“Here, in our house. No one ever asked us, no one ever wanted to go all the way.”

After a year, however, the investigation is still ongoing.

“Yes, that’s what they’re telling us: the investigations are ongoing.”…
