Giussano: He feels ill and dies the day after his mother

Condolences in Paina di Giussano for the passing of Giovanni Passiu, 58 years old. His brother Giuseppe found him examined in the house in via Corridoni, the emergency services were immediately alerted and he died at San Gerardo. The man from Pain had had various health problems since he was a boy, but he wanted to donate his corneas.

He had several health problems

He passed away the day after his mother died. Great condolences to Paina for the farewell to Giovanni Passiu, born in 1966. His life was rather unfortunate due to serious physical ailments from which he had been suffering since he was young, but characterized by great generosity and altruism which he demonstrated until end by donating the corneas and always being close to his mother.

He had always taken care of his mother

The man from Pain had worked in various companies. Then, due to a serious infection, and suffering from a serious form of diabetes, a few years ago, he had to give up work. Unmarried, at that point, he had decided to dedicate himself to caring for his elderly mother with whom he lived in via Corridoni, Anna Regawho passed away at the age of 93, on Thursday, June 20.

His brother found him lifeless at home

The next day, Friday morning, Giovanni and his brother Giuseppe were supposed to take care of their mother’s funeral, but when his brother went home, he found Giovanni, lifeless, on the floor, in the throes of a serious crisis due to his physical problems.
He immediately alerted the emergency services, the ambulance transported him in code red to the San Gerardo hospital in Monza. And shortly afterwards, due to a serious heart attack, the 58-year-old passed away, not even 24 hours after his mother, whose funeral took place on Saturday 22 June.
On Monday 24th June, Giovanni’s funeral followed in the same parish church of Paina where many people said goodbye to the elderly woman.

Cornea donation

After his death, the health workers at the San Gerardo hospital asked and obtained permission from the family of the man from Paine to take his corneas. The family, knowing Giovanni’s generosity and altruistic nature, wanted to transform into a concrete act what would have been his desire and will.
Giovanni’s corneas, within ten days of the collection, will be transplanted onto two people who could no longer see due to accident or illness. Thanks to Giovanni’s gesture, two people will be able to see and live a full life again.
The Aido-Giussano association wanted Giovanni and his family for the exemplary gesture and generosity demonstrated even in a moment of great despair.
A few weeks ago another Painese, Vittorio Barni, who died on 8 June, had done the same thing.
Passiu’s is the sixth donation of the year and the 244th from Giussano since the foundation of Aido-Giussano. From 1979 to today, there have been 216 cornea donations and 28 organ donations.
