Colmurano, June 28, 2024 – “The entire community is united in the family’s grief. A grief that we cannot even describe. I met her in the summer, she was still tied to Colmurano”. These are the words of Mirko Mari, mayor of the town of origin of Margherita Salvucci, the 28-year-old who lost her life on holiday in Portugal, with her family, overwhelmed by a freak wave in Seixal, on the island of Madeira. Hundreds and hundreds, in just a few hours, of messages of remembrance for the girl, a young psychiatrist graduated in Padua, where she lived in recent years. A well-known family of her her, starting from mother Ornella Formica, former mayor of the town and an elementary school teacher. “We are publishing this news, so incomprehensible, absurd, in front of which a immense pain, silent, unites us all. We are close to Ornella, Piergiovanni, Ester and the whole family, offering prayers and affection. Hello Margherita”, is the message from parish of San Donato. A lover of nature, she was a brilliant student, and had still maintained strong ties with the Macerata area. “She was the my educator in one of my first school camps,” adds a fellow villager. Even the mother’s colleagues are speechless. “We will always remember your smile,” is the common thought, in disbelief in the face of such an end.
