The Modena firefighters carried out two rescues of animals in difficulty on Thursday afternoon.
The first intervention occurred at around 12.30 when a small dog was spotted in the bed of the Secchia river in the Ponte Alto area by a fisherman. The dog was recovered with a dinghy by three operators in river mode and handed over to the municipal kennel worker. A micro chip has been found and will be returned to the owners.
Then, around 4pm, the fire brigade team from the Vignola detachment intervened in Villabianca to rescue an owl inside a chimney of a house. Fire brigade personnel used a fishing net provided by the applicant to recover the animal without harming it. The animal was temporarily placed in a cat kennel and then released at dusk.
