Direct access rays: the experimentation begins

A path aimed at guaranteeing direct access for outpatients with a request for x-rays of skeletal segments with priority B (Short 10 days) will start in ASL1 from 1 July, on an experimental level in the Imperia Health District, as already happens for requests for x-rays of the chest, ribs and abdomen. This type of management should help reduce the number of patients accessing the Imperia ER for minor traumas, crowding it and altering the operational flow dedicated to patients with more serious pathologies.

Initiative towards reducing waiting lists

This initiative by ASL1 goes in the direction of reducing waiting lists, especially in the summer period which sees a greater influx of patients in the EDs of the province, also due to the summer holidays. “The will of Asl1 – explains the DSS Dr. Fabrizio Polverini – is to provide a better performing service to users as well as guaranteeing compliance with waiting times”.

The words of the Social Health Director are echoed by those of Dr. Roberto Carlo Parodi, SC Director of General Radiodiagnostics in Levante: “We will be able to perform direct access, without reservation, any type of RX with priority B from Monday to Friday (9 am – 13). This guarantees rapid access to radiological diagnostics for all those patients who may have been victims of minor traumas and/or pain symptoms that are not seriously disabling and who, therefore, do not require immediate access to the emergency room. The reporting of the images will take place in a short time without having to return the patients to collect the exam”.
