SUMMER IN MORCOTE
The events organized by the Municipality of Morcote continue as part of the SUMMER IN MORCOTE event which will continue throughout the summer!
On Friday 28 June 2024 in the splendid setting of Spazio Garavello 7 (7th floor of the Municipal Car Park of Morcote) the Teatro Canzone show for free thought will be held: TOMORROW IS TODAY’S YESTERDAY
An evening to talk about the emotional and intellectual environment with two talents who will lead us to new reflections in a critical, ironic, fun and engaging way!
The show by and with Tommaso Giacopini and Simone Ganser is part of the “Morcote Dialogo Ambiente” conference cycle, conferences designed to address and explore issues of global interest with proven sector experts. Among the topics covered, Microplastics, the Climate, the Energy Crisis, the safeguard and protection of our territory through the knowledge of insects. A series of meetings that have enjoyed and continue to enjoy an excellent reputation as a platform of excellence and which today approach the emotional environment, for the first time, explored with the Teatro Canzone strictly live!
In an extraordinary scenic context between the lake and the sky, facing Monte San Giorgio, a UNESCO heritage site, the public is invited to participate to enjoy an authentic and unmissable evening.
TOMORROW IS YESTERDAY TODAY is a reflection on speech, on freedom, on censorship. On how history is a continuous repetition of the same events, in a different form. On how collectivism is imposed at various times on the freedom of the individual, who finds himself devoured by the ideology of the collective, annihilating his own human desire for freedom. But today’s Tomorrow is Yesterday is also a show about how through an enormous effort of will and dignity the individual can still, again and always, manage to overcome the temptation to unite, to discover a new belief, which leads him to find himself, a self unassailable by external circumstances and current opinions, a free self. It is therefore a show about ethics, but far from being a sociopolitical conference, the themes are addressed through great irony and moments of lightness.
“Tomorrow is today’s yesterday” was born from the love for that art form that was the Canzone Theater of the last century. In 2023 Tommaso Giacopini and Simone Ganser launched a research project that investigated the Teatro Canzone, its themes, and above all how it could be represented nowadays. The research was supported by Migros Culture Percentage. The event will be held even in case of bad weather.
