Abused and beaten several times, a 30-year-old woman recanted and is charged with false testimony
The sentence should have been issued today, June 27, by the third panel of the Court of Latina of the trio of judges La Rosa-Sergio-Romano. Except that the public prosecutor Marco Giancristofaro, although everything was ready for the discussion of the parties, considered it necessary to have other investigative documents acquired in the trial.
Il case is the one that sees a woman on the dock for perjury and a man for mistreatment. The two have recently hit the headlines because their statements helped the Carabinieri of the Investigative Unit of Latina to dismantle the criminal association for the purpose of drug dealing that moved between Campo Boario and Nicolosi. This is the operation “Nico” that led to the arrests of the third branch of the Di Silvio family, the one whose leader is Ferdinando Di Silvio known as “Macciò” and which includes the well-known Antonio Di Silvio known as “Cavallo”, father of today’s defendant.

The trial sees the 33-year-old in the dock Carmine Di Silvio called Belvo – defended by the lawyer Ernesto Renzi – accused of mistreatment against his ex-partner, Shara Grifo, 30 years old – assisted by the lawyer Valentina Varrone – charged with perjury because, during the evidentiary incident of the preliminary hearing that preceded the referral to trial, according to the Prosecutor’s Office, she lied and recanted the violent behavior suffered by her ex-partner.
Both of them, however, also came to the attention of the news for another rather well-known story: a house in Nicolosi occupied and liberated after twelve years by the action of the Carabinieri of the Investigative Nucleus of Latina, led by Lieutenant Colonel Antonio De Lise.
Returning to today’s trial, both the woman and the man must also answer for the violation of the prohibition on approach since, after the incidents of mistreatment dating back to 2021, Di Silvio was found in the woman’s house during a check by the Latina Flying Squad . To testify to this, at a previous hearing, a police officer who physically found the man in the house in the well-known neighborhood of Latina, “Nicolosi”. It is the same house that was later evicted by the Carabinieri soldiers.
Another woman who, at the time of the events, was living in Nicolosi with her ex-partner was also heard as a witness in a past hearing. It was she who offered hospitality to the 30-year-old victim, having seen her wandering around the working-class neighborhood at a late hour.
The woman, out of solidarity, asked what had happened and the victim told her that she had been locked up in the house by her partner who had also deprived her of the telephone. Terrified, the woman took her children and left, aimlessly. The witness – who then, at the request of the policemen who took the complaint that same evening, hosted the woman – said that she had had confidences from the victim regarding various acts of violence: practically, it was not the first time that she had been beaten.
Today, the public prosecutor, before obtaining the postponement set for the September 27thwhen the sentence will be issued, explained that the 30-year-old is accused of perjury because, before recanting, she confirmed the version of mistreatment four times.
