FALCONARA She is beaten by her husband after yet another argument over trivial matters, she runs away with her two little children and goes to the police: “Please, help me, I can’t take it anymore”. The SOS, launched on the evening of December 4, 2022, had started a protection program for the woman and the children. On the other hand, she had brought her husband, a 40-year-old Moldovan, into handcuffs. The man ended up on trial for mistreatment in the family and personal injury.
The hearing
The hearing was held in front of the criminal court, where the defense witnesses and the defendant, defended by the lawyer Giorgio Canali, paraded. All the charges were rejected. When she showed up at the Falconara Carabinieri station that December, she had a black eye. The consequence, according to the prosecution, of the latest episode of violence that broke out within the home. And, what’s more, in front of the couple’s young children. It all started with a trivial argument that took place in the city center and started with a minor reason: that the woman smoked. A habit that the 40-year-old didn’t like. “She said that the no-good ones smoked and that I could leave home.” When they returned home, the couple continued to argue. He, according to the prosecution’s reconstruction, threw all his wife’s clothes on the floor, continuing to insult her. “You can’t smoke,” the 40-year-old allegedly said.
The boot
At a certain point, according to the prosecution, the defendant resorted to physical violence, hitting his wife with his fists. “This time I’ll kill you. I’ll kill you and my ex, I’m not afraid of the police.” Frightened by the situation, the woman took her things, her children and ran to ask for help from the police at the station. “I can’t take it anymore,” she said in a faint voice. She ended up in the emergency room for a head injury that was judged to heal in seven days. Her husband, now at liberty, was arrested and taken to prison. The trial was adjourned, with sentencing in September.
