He kicks the conductor in the stomach, the attack on Barletta

In the Barletta train station a man attacks the conductor with screams and kicks: the girl ended up in hospital and is currently still in a state of shock, while the attacker was stopped by the police. According to what was reported by the CGIL, the worker was yesterday on the fourth platform waiting for the departure of a train and was answering questions from travellers, when at a certain point one of the passengers began to arrogantly state that he wanted to take the vehicle without a ticket, trying to make way with his bicycle to get onto the convoy. The tones, threatening right from the start, became further heated with the intervention of a policeman present there who tried to give support to the train conductor, but the man still managed to land two kicks in the girl’s abdomen, which fell to the ground.

The authorities were immediately alerted and the young woman is still very shaken by what happened. “We need to be able to strengthen controls, attacks for trivial reasons are now the order of the day,” CGIL union representative Gennaro Fiorentino denounces to Telebari, “when you are in the workplace you think you are in a comfort zone, and that you can feel at ease. Workers must be protected, it is necessary to intervene to protect the equipment”. In short, stations still seem to be places that are not entirely safe for travellers and service workers, not to mention the fact that going back to work for this young train conductor will not be easy, considering the experience she has just had.

In a statement FILT CGIL, FIT CISL, UILT, UGL Ferrovieri, FAST and ORSA declare: “”The trade unions express solidarity and closeness to the workers who are victims of these dramatic episodes which testify to a growing ‘trend’. For some time Filt Cgil, Fit Cisl, Uiltrasporti Uil, Ugl Ferrovieri, SLM Fast Confsal, Or.SA Ferrovie have been stigmatizing such criminal acts, asking for a real discussion to be opened at all levels. The companies of the FS Group involved, the Prefectures and the Puglia Region are therefore invited to intervene within their sphere of competence in order to combat and implement every possible action aimed at eliminating the phenomenon of acts of violence in railway areas and on trains”.
