(AGENPARL) – Fri 21 June 2024 VOLOTEA TAKES OFF FROM GENOA TOWARDS SUMMER DESTINATIONS
The carrier is restoring the connection to Olbia starting today, with an offer of almost 24,000 seats for sale.
Genoa, 21 June 2024 – Volotea, the low-cost airline for small and medium-sized European cities, reactivates the route that connects Genoa with Olbia starting today, Friday 21 June. Through an overall offer of almost 24,000 seats for sale, distributed across approximately 132 flights, and up to 6 frequencies per week in the months of heaviest traffic, the route will allow the many Genoese passengers to easily reach the Costa Smeralda, to discover some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
Present at Cristoforo Colombo since the beginning of its activities in 2012, Volotea has transported over 2.4 million passengers to date and is preparing for another hot summer in Genoa. In addition to the reopening of the connection to Olbia, from the Ligurian airport you can, in fact, fly to Paris Orly, to immerse yourself in the streets of the most romantic city in the world, this year home to the Olympics. Furthermore, starting from September the twice-weekly connection to Naples will be operational again, an ideal destination for an escape full of good food, history and art.
“The reactivation of flights from Genoa to Olbia reconfirms our commitment to offering comfortable, fast and direct connections to one of the most popular summer destinations – commented Valeria Rebasti, International Market Director of Volotea -. This is an important route for us, which we have been operating since 2013, and which was created with the aim of satisfying the travel needs of all those who want to reach Sardinia in a short time. It is precisely for this reason that we have planned, in the months of heaviest traffic, flights 6 days a week, so as to plan your next holidays on the Costa Smeralda in an even simpler way”.
All Volotea routes are available on the website http://www.volotea.com and in travel agencies.
VOLOTEA
Volotea was founded in 2011 by Carlos Muñoz and Lázaro Ros, previously founders of Vueling. It is one of the fastest growing independent companies in Europe over the last 10 years. Year after year, it has seen its fleet, the number of routes operated and the offer of seats for sale grow. This year the airline celebrated the milestone of 60 million passengers carried.
Volotea flies to more than 110 airports and has bases in 21 medium-sized European cities: Asturias, Athens, Bari (new 2024) Bilbao, Bordeaux, Brest (new 2024), Cagliari, Florence (from April 2023), Hamburg, Lille, Lyon, Lourdes, Marseille, Nantes, Naples, Olbia, Palermo, Strasbourg, Toulouse, Venice and Verona.
In 2024, Volotea will operate over 450 routes (of which more than half are exclusive), offer between 12.5 and 13 million seats (between 12% and 16% more than in 2023) and operate approximately 80,000 flights. The company has also expanded its fleet and will operate 44 Airbus A319s and A320s. Volotea is working to achieve a more sustainable future in the aviation sector. The airline intends to reach its goal of reducing direct CO2 emissions per passenger-kilometer by 50% by 2025, five years ahead of schedule. Furthermore, the airline has set a new, even more ambitious goal: to reduce emissions by 58% by 2030. To date, Volotea has launched over 50 sustainability initiatives which have already led to a reduction in the carbon footprint per passenger and kilometer by more than 45%. Since 2022, the company has been working on the development of alternative emissions-free technologies, operates Airbus’ internal shuttle service with 34% sustainable aviation fuel and works with manufacturers and industry so that these fuels (today difficult to access) can be developed and disseminated as soon as possible.
Volotea will employ approximately 2,060 people in 2024, and actively promotes connectivity within the territories in which it is based, contributing to their economic development and enriching the cultural landscape through high-impact sponsorship projects.
Volotea was recognized by Skytrax, in its global passenger satisfaction survey, as the “Best Low-Cost Airline in Europe” at the 2023 World Airline Awards, defined by the media around the world as “the Oscars of the aviation industry ”. The airline adds this recognition to its growing list of successes, which includes three wins as “Europe’s Leading Low-Cost Airline” at the 2021, 2022 and 2024 World Travel Awards.
