CASTROVILLARI The magistrate of the Castrovillari court, this morning, sent the defendants to trial in the investigation coordinated by the Cosenza prosecutor’s office, which involves – among others – the re-elected mayor of Trebisacce Franco Mundo (defended by lawyer Franz Caruso). The preliminary hearing judge ordered the trial to be postponed against him, as well as that of all the other defendants: Antonio Tufaro (defended by the lawyer Gennaro Tufaro), Michele Calvosa (defended by the lawyer Salvatore Di Marco), Cosimo Folda (defended by lawyers Lucio Esbardo and Andrea Caruso), Domenico Lofrano (defended by the lawyer Leonardo Lucente), Antonio De Marco (defended by the lawyer Pierpaolo Viteritti), Anthony Anjou (defended by lawyer Luca Alba).
The investigation
The financiers of the Compagnia di Sibari, as part of investigations delegated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Cosenza, in July 2021, executed an order implementing personal precautionary measures – issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Castrovillari, Simone Falerno, at the request of the Public Ministry in charge of the investigations, Luca Primicio – towards the then mayor (re-elected in the last administrative elections) of the Municipality of Trebisacce, Franco Mundo and two employees of the local authority, Antonio Tufaro And Michele Calvosa, recipients of a disqualification measure of suspension from the exercise of public office, respectively for three and six months. The Guardia di Finanza soldiers had ascertained, on the occasion of the regional elections of 28 January 2020, illegality in the collection of subscriptions necessary to reach the quorum essential for the declaration of presentation of the district list of candidates “I stay in Calabria”, Northern Electoral District, in support of Pippo Callipo President of the Calabria Region.
