Flood in Mulazzano, citizens don’t give up

Interrupted roads, flooded cellars and first floors, a large lake that formed at the end of via Verdi. The day after the flood that brought the population of Mulazzano, a hamlet of the municipality of Lesignano dè Bagni, to its knees, the citizens rolled up their sleeves to empty the rooms invaded by mud and try to return to normality. Alongside them are the many Civil Protection volunteers who have been on site for three days to provide support to citizens, as well as firefighters and local police officers, who regulate traffic. The day after the flood, on the morning of Wednesday 26 June, the new mayor of Lesignano dè Bagni Andrea Borchini also returned to the site and is closely following all the phases of the intervention (THE INTERVIEW). While some bulldozers shovel the mud and try to free the trapped cars, the citizens most affected by the flood work to empty the cellars, with the help of neighbors and Civil Protection volunteers. It’s a long job that requires a lot of patience. Meanwhile, the first damage calculation is being made: there is talk of a few million euros. The mayor asks for the intervention of the regional and state authorities: “We hope for a significant intervention from the supra-municipal authorities, given the seriousness of the situation. The citizens who have suffered the damage do not stop: they continue to shovel the mud without respite.
