This morning, a meeting chaired by the prefect, Maria Carolina Ippolito, took place at the Prefecture of Enna, regarding the water emergency that is gripping the regional and provincial territory. The representative of the Free Municipal Consortium of Enna, the Mayors and representatives of the Municipalities of the Province, the leaders of the Police Force and the president of the ATI of Enna together with the representatives of SiciliAcque and the president of AcquaEnna took part in the meeting.
The Prefect informed those present on the outcome of the meeting held on 21 June at the Presidency of the Sicilian Region, which was also attended by the Prefects of Agrigento, Caltanissetta, Palermo and Trapani, and announced that he had established a working group at the Prefecture. The group, coordinated by the Vicar vice-prefect and the head of the Cabinet, will be the point of reference for the Municipalities for problems to be submitted to the Control Room, such as financing for the purchase of tankers to deal with the emergency, but also for the daily management of emergencies.
All the Municipalities, at the request of the Prefect, will immediately activate the Municipal Operational Centers, to constantly monitor the progress of the territorial phenomenon. The Municipalities with less criticality have made sources and wells available which will be supervised by AcquaEnna, to evaluate the possibility of drawing from them for water supply.
Dr. Ippolito then announced that she had already asked the Police Force to implement information-investigative and territorial control activities for the recent phenomena of water theft and illegal connections. Finally, at the request of the Mayors concerned, you have undertaken the commitment to request the Basin Authority to authorize SiciliAcque to increase the water supply by 5 l / s to solve the distribution problems in Nicosia and Piazza Armerina.
