Barzanò, 26 June 2024 – On the occasion of the celebrations for the 175th anniversary of the death of the Risorgimento patriot Luciano Manarawhich occurred during the defense of the Roman Republic on 30 June 1849, whose tomb is located in Barzanò together with the ancient family summer residence, the Municipality of Barzanò organizes a conference and a procession to highlight and enhance the contribution given by Manara, the Paladini family and General Sirtori both to the Five Days of Milan and to the Risorgimento of Italy.

Reflection

The conference, entitled “Risorgimento: Italy has awakened”will take place on Saturday 29 June at 5pm at the Barzanò primary school, in via Leonardo da Vinci 10, with interventions by Patrizia Figini, “Intimate memories of the Risorgimento of some Brianza heroes”, Stefano Cereda, “Luciano Manara and the Risorgimento”, Michele Vitali, “Paladins and Galliani: from grandparents to grandchildren… all in line!”, and Marco Sampietro, “General Giuseppe Sirtori of Casatevecchio: Garibaldi’s right-hand man”.

Sunday 30 June, the celebrations will continue starting from 10am, meeting in Piazza Mercato (in case of bad weather, Alpini headquarters in via Marconi). The meeting is scheduled for 10.15am departure of the procession heading to the tomb of Luciano Manarain via IV Novembre, and the laying of the wreath.

The route will finally continue towards Villa Manara, in via Garibaldi. At 11 concert with lhe historic Bersaglieri fanfare “Luciano Manara” of Milan, founded in 1927.
