Spending on Svod streaming plummets in the US

According to Parks Associates, monthly spending on season tickets has dropped 30% in three years

When it comes to streaming, Americans started saving. This is what the US research company highlights Parks Associates in the report Video Services Dashboard. According to the researchers, Spending on Svod streaming services would have fallen by 30% between 2021 and 2024. American families with internet would therefore spend 63 dollars a month for their Svod Ott services, compared to 90 in 2021.

A decline that is most likely due to choice of subscriptions at a reduced price, but with advertising, as Sarah Lee, Research Analyst at Parks Associates states: «Consumers are spending less, but rather than giving up, many are choosing advertising-based alternatives to save money. A service must offer a unique and continuous value if it wants to be paid as a premium.”

However, the number of services subscribed to would have decreased: if in the first quarter of 2023 29% had 9 or more subscriptions, in the third quarter of 2024 the figure fell to 22% (20% in the first quarter of 2023). 32% of families have canceled a subscription in the last 12 months to save money.
