During the preliminary hearing held on Tuesday 25 May, theBurimec company and its legal representative Pietro Schneider have requested a plea bargain. They are charged with manslaughter, violation of accident prevention regulations and failure to control in relation to the tragic death of Lorenzo Parellithe 18-year-old student who lost his life on the last day of his internship as part of a school-work project.

Lorenzo Parelli, a promising young student, was completing a period of practical training at Burimec when a heavy load crushed him, causing his death instantly. The accident raised a strong wave of emotion, bringing to light the issues related to workplace safety and the effectiveness of school-work alternation projects.

For the other two defendants, Claudio Morandini, the employee with whom Parelli was working at the time of the accident, and Emanuele De Cilia, tutor assigned to the young man who was not in the company that day for health reasons, it was the abbreviated procedure is requested. The next hearing set for October 15.
