Grosseto. The next Golden Griffin will be awarded to Don Enzo Capitani.
Priest of the diocese of Grosseto, Capitani has dedicated his entire life to combating poverty and fighting social marginalization. He has distinguished himself over the years for his humanitarian, cultural and spiritual commitment.
The mayor and president of the Province of Grosseto are satisfied.
“In a historical moment like the current one, characterized by an increase in the sense of loneliness and the emergence of new forms of poverty, awarding the Golden Grifone to Don Enzo Capitani strengthens the sense of community and is in line with the identity of the city and province of Grosseto. This land is inhabited by men and women who have made generosity, solidarity and civic commitment their reason for living”comments the president of the Province, Francesco Limatola.
“The convergence of different situations makes this Golden Griffin particularly relevant to the times we are living in. The pandemic, the war in Ukraine and the new forms of poverty have increased the sense of abandonment and isolation. Thanks to Caritas and Don Enzo Capitani these problems are addressed seriously. It is the fiftieth anniversary of Caritas and I believe that a more appropriate Golden Griffin than this one, which recalls the soul and spirit of hospitality of Grosseto, could not have been chosen”, declares the mayor Antonfrancesco Vivarelli Colonna.
