Castrol launched long-life engine oil from new generation 0W-20 low viscosity Castrol EDGE 0W-20 LL IV, the first lubricant of its kind to guarantee the latest low viscosity specifications of BMW, Mercedes-Benz And Volkswagen. The new product is ideal for petrol, diesel and hybrid vehicles and is available to consumers and workshops in one and four liter packs.
The approvals of the new Castrol
Castrol EDGE 0W-20 LL IV He obtained three official approvals widely considered among the most demanding in the industry: BMW Longlife-17 FE+, MB-Approval 229.72 (from Mercedes-Benz) and VW 508 00/509 00 (from Volkswagen). Furthermore, the new lubricant is approved for Porsche C20meets Ford specification WSS-M2C956-A1 and OEM requirements that recommend the use of ACEA C5 or ACEA C6 0W-20 oils.
Specifically tested for over 10,000 hours, Castrol EDGE 0W-20 LL IV works to lower friction, increase efficiency and reduce harmful emissions. The new product is designed to address many of the challenges associated with modern engines. While smaller, more powerful units provide better fuel economy, the increased use of turbochargers can increase the pressure inside the engine: Castrol EDGE 0W-20 LL IV’s low-viscosity formulation minimizes the energy required to move between internal engine components.
Low speed pre-ignition (LSPI) events can also occur when smaller turbocharged engines are subjected to high loads at low speeds. The fuel-air mixture can ignite prematurely, causing excessive pressure in the cylinders, resulting in increased engine noise and, in extreme cases, catastrophic engine damage. CASTROL EDGE 0W-20 LL IV meets all LSPI testing requirements to significantly reduce the risk of such events occurring.
