The words of Sara Funaro. “I am very excited, I admit it. The emotion of being the first citizen of Florence is indescribable. I want to thank everyone who has accompanied me in these months: from the volunteers, to all those who were part of the committee, to the parties and coalition lists. I want to say thanks to the PD who has always been by my side in recent months, starting with the city secretary Andrea Ceccarelli, the metropolitan secretary Marini, the regional secretary Fossi and our national secretary Schlein who has always been here with me. I would also like to thank the team I have worked with in these 10 years and Dario Nardella. Thank you all.

I started this election campaign by saying that there cannot be just one person in charge and I repeat it. This victory is thanks to the whole team who really gave everything. I also congratulate Schmidt, and I hope to be able to shake his hand soon. Finally, I dedicate this victory to my grandfather Piero Bargellini, remembering her phrase: “I made so many declarations of love to Florence that I wanted to marry her”. Here, today I’m getting married to this beautiful city. I will give my all for Florence. I will be the mayor of everyone”
