Agri-food, Liguria at the 68th Summer Fancy Food Show in New York

Liguria. Oil, pesto, focaccia. But also wines, digestives and pasta. This is how Liguria presents itself at the Summer Fancy Food Show, inaugurated this morning in New York.

The Fair, now in its 68th edition, represents the largest commercial event for the food and beverage industry in the United States: each year it attracts thousands of producers, buyers, intermediaries, distributors and other industry professionals for three days of discovery of products, networking and commercial opportunities.

Until June 25th, the excellence of our region will be on display at the collective stand set up by Liguria International at the Javits Center in New York: an area including a common space for events and show cooking and a branded space for each individual company present.

The guests of the “Liguria Lounge”, according to a formula already consolidated in other events, will have the opportunity to get to know our territory also through the tasting of our typical products, true “ambassadors” of taste.

A B2B activity plan was also defined with the aim of supporting exhibitors in obtaining commercial appointments with potential customers from the US market: for this reason, a specific website designed specifically for the US public and a campaign of commercial contacts were created aim of bringing together supply and demand and, consequently, giving rise to a very targeted “appointment agenda”.

“Dedicating a strategic space to Liguria in the Summer Fancy food Show – says the interim president of the Liguria Region Alessandro Piana – is a significant choice that aims to further consolidate the central role of our excellences in the collective imagination, to increase the perception of their value and to support exports. An event that combines business with knowledge, in a format that is easily recognizable in the panorama of sector events. Our participation aims to promote the entire supply chain and operators at an international level, representing the solidity of Ligurian quality agri-food which is expressed not only through the historic banners of taste but also with niche productions of inestimable value”.

“A prestigious opportunity to promote Ligurian agri-food excellence in the United States, which helps us consolidate the positioning of a strategic economic sector of our region in the international reference markets – underlines the regional councilor for Economic Development Alessio Piana -. Regional participation is part of the annual internationalization plan of Liguria International, an in-house company with which the administration will support exhibiting companies in this stars and stripes mission. In fact, a space will be dedicated to them in the Liguria Region stand to increase the recognition of our products, also through digital showcases, and help them obtain commercial appointments with potential customers”.

The US market’s interest in Italy and its food and wine increases year after year. The Italian pavilion, where the Liguria stand is also located, has for this edition an exhibition of approximately 3500 m2 in total, organized into 21 “islands”.

The operators present at the Summer Fancy Food Show at the Liguria Region stand are: Costa Ligure, Il Pesto di Prà, Nuovo Liquorificio Fabbrizii in Val d’Aveto, Pandorà, Pastificio Alta Valle Scrivia, Sant’Agata 1907.
