MERLINO The celebrations at the Calandrone sanctuary come to life: a river of faithful in the sign of Saint John the Baptist

The celebrations at the characteristic sanctuary of Calandrone, located in the parish of Merlino, also come to life. On Sunday 23 June, Masses will be celebrated at 9 and 10.30 am; that of 6pm will be presided over by the new archbishop, Monsignor Cesare Pagazzi, secretary of the Dicastery for Culture and Education and consultant of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith.

Monday 24 June will be the solemnity of the birth of Saint John the Baptist. A special day, which sees pilgrims arrive at Calandrone by bicycle, on foot, by car and by bus, and from various provinces. The first Eucharist of the day will be celebrated at 5am, the last at 9pm. In between, there will be many opportunities to pray and participate in Mass.

The 6pm celebration will be presided over by the bishop of Lodi, Monsignor Maurizio Malvestiti: it will have the presence of the sick, volunteers and administrators who will come from all over the Lodi area. The bishop of Lodi will return to Calandrone the following day, Tuesday 25 June, to preside at 8.30 pm at the closing Mass of the pastoral year of the vicariate of Paullo – Spino.
