The Sicilian U17 team, in its first participation, wins, with merit, the 3rd edition of the “Benedetto Piras” Trophy. In Castiadas, the Sicilians overcame, completing a practically perfect run, the same age group from Piedmont Valle d’Aosta, with a result of 2-0: the last act featured the boys led on the bench by Lorenzo Corsino who they prevailed thanks to goals from Donato, playing for the Accademia Siracusa, and Zizzo, from Trapani. The president of Cr Sicilia Sandro Morgana commented on the Sicilian victory thus: “There is great satisfaction for this important success, in our first participation in the Piras tournament – the top regional manager wanted to underline -. The boys gave their all without ever sparing themselves, demonstrating great maturity and desire to do well. I am particularly happy for the group, for the technicians and for all the staff members who believed in us and who came to Sardinia with enthusiasm and with the aim of doing well. It was a collective effort thanks to the expert care of a highly respected technical structure made up of the head of the delegation Luigi Gentile, the technicians Daniele Di Salvo, even if he was not present in Sardinia, Lorenzo Corsino and Dario Scardaci and, above all, with our regional coordinator of the Selections Pierpaolo Alderisi: an achievement that gratifies us for the great work done this season”. President Morgana then added: “From day one, I told the boys that the main objective was to have fun and keep the values of sport high, putting respect and education for the opponent first: this is was received very well, then having been protagonists also from a technical point of view made me particularly happy. We had an extraordinary welcome in this wonderful land that is Sardinia: we are united with the Sardinians by this insularity that characterizes us and which well describes our desire for welcome and hospitality. Furthermore, the great organization of the tournament did the rest. I thank my friend Gianni Cadoni, President CR Sardegna and Vice President LND, for this beautiful showcase which put our young talents at the center of attention, in a tournament which remembered a dear friend like the unforgettable president of the Sardinia Regional Committee Benedetto Piras, of whom our memory is always alive.”
