There are 2 people who have been reported by the Cannobio carabinieri, accused of unauthorized waste management, after a fire in the first days of the month had affected what – it was discovered during the extinguishing operations – was a warehouse irregular waste. The dense column of black smoke that rose from the area also forced traffic on the state road to be diverted towards the town centre. The flames broke out from underground rooms adjacent to a company in Cannobio.
The intervention of the police
Local police patrols and the financial police immediately intervened on site and immediately managed traffic and diversions. The fire was put out in about an hour by a team of firefighters, and the carabinieri from the Cannobio station and those from the forestry carabinieri station also intervened on site to ascertain the causes of the fire, as well as making sure that there were no people in danger.

The fire was triggered by a fire starting from a vehicle that had stopped for a short time in the warehouse. The flames quickly devoured even what was crammed into the rooms.
