(Sixth Power) – Cervia – 21 June 2024 – The “Salinaro for a day” initiative kicks off in Cervia on Tuesday afternoons at 4.30 pm until 27 August. The initiative sees the figure of the salt worker as a teacher and adventure companion for an afternoon, learning and experimenting with the knowledge of the production of Cervia’s “white gold”.

In this way MUSA, the salt museum of Cervia offers not only to see and observe the salt workers at work, which already happens in guided tours, but to “work” with them. It is therefore an absolutely unique opportunity to experience the thrill of taking on the role of a salt worker and experiencing the magic of harvesting the “sweet” salt as well as the life of the salt workers in the evocative atmosphere of that absolutely extraordinary environment which is the Cervia salt pan. . It is also always a unique opportunity to learn about life experiences, stories and anecdotes directly from those who have lived them.

It is therefore a truly unique moment of cultural growth. The initiative takes place every Tuesday, until August 27. In addition to the conversation with the experts, it will be the moment of delivery of the participation diploma which will remain as a reminder and testimony of this unique experience.

This initiative offers the possibility of enjoying the particular environment of the salt pan, with its peculiarities and allows the visitor to learn more about the ancient production technique, but also to learn more about the civilization of salt. The initiative is open to groups restricted to give the salt workers the opportunity to constantly and closely follow their students. Reservation is therefore required.
(We also recommend very comfortable clothing and lots of curiosity. To book contact 3474661513 or send an email to [email protected])

Guided tours Sunday and Thursday afternoon at 5pm until 15 September

They continue until mid-September, guided tours of the Camillone salt pan, during which the salt workers explain the salt production process.

The last remaining of the 150 family-run salt pans that existed before the transformation in 1959, the Camillone salt pan, an open-air section of MUSA, Cervia’s salt museum, is still active thanks to the cultural group Civiltà Salinara which cultivates it, producing tons and tons of it every year of “sweet” salt. MUSA offers guided tours on Thursdays and Sundays at 5pm. The salt workers illustrate the work live.

You can then understand the various stages of production by following the salt workers at work and the guide’s explanations. It is a magical moment that takes us back in time, to the moment in which the large body of water was made up of many salt beds, each entrusted to a family who worked it with wisdom and particular care to produce a high-quality salt in large quantities. whose quality together with quantity was rewarded in the past when production was closed.

And if it has the magic of ancient legend and the flavor of ancient history, the salt production process still fascinates travelers today who approach the salt pans and learn that the sun, the wind combined with the wisdom, perseverance and strength of man they can give life to this precious and “tasty” element that is always present on our table.

Appointment at the Cervia Salina Visitor Center in Via Bova 61 at 4.30 pm. A salt worker will accompany the participants to the Camillone salt pan for the visit and will accompany them on their return.
