Fire near public housing, fear in Castelvecchio

Fire, at 1pm yesterday, near an apartment building in Castelvecchio di Monte Porzio. The flames developed in a sheet metal shed no more than 4 meters from the public housing in via Cesanense, at number 108. Among the first to notice the dense column of smoke that was being released was a local police officer associated ‘Media Valcesano’ who was passing by on the nearby State Road 424 at that very moment and who immediately intervened, checking that the people inside the apartments were moving away and immediately alerting the firefighters, who arrived with three vehicles from Fano. The police from the local station were also on site. The prompt action of the firefighters prevented the flames from spreading towards the house and also towards a large wheat field located at the back of the shed, towards the sea. If the fire had reached it, the size of the fire would have become very large, but fortunately the problem was averted, also thanks to the favorable wind conditions that blew in the opposite direction: from the coast towards the Apennines.

It took firefighters about an hour and a half to completely put out the fire and make the area completely safe. After that, the residents of the public housing were able to return to their apartments regularly. No one suffered any consequences and even the damage to property was extremely modest, as no vehicles or other valuable objects were kept in the shed. The accidental causes seem certain, thanks to the high temperature recorded in those hours.
