Fire between Bomarzo and Attigliano put out: clean-up operations now underway

This morning, the fire that broke out yesterday afternoon between Bomarzo, in the province of Viterbo, and Attigliano, in the province of Terni, has been definitively extinguished and cleanup operations are underway. The flames, which required the use of aerial vehicles in the Viterbo area, devastated a considerable area.

The fire saw the intervention of teams of the firefighters of the Terni command. A first team arrived from Amelia’s detachment, followed subsequently from another unit coming from the Terni power station, equipped with a country firefighting module and a tanker. The collaboration between the different teams made it possible to control the flames and prevent further damage.

Currently, fire brigade teams and AGIFOR (Agency for Forestry Emergency Management) personnel are on site to complete the clean-up operations. This process is crucial to prevent any outbreaks from reigniting and causing further fires.

An initial estimate of the surface affected by the flames indicates that around 50 hectares of land are wooded that no, they were burned. This area extends across the two provinces, highlighting the severity of the fire and the extent of the intervention needed to put it out.

The firefighting and cleanup operations will continue until the complete safety of the affected area is guaranteed. Local authorities, together with the fire brigade, will continue to monitor the situation to prevent any re-ignition and protect the surrounding areas.
