Park road, bumps away: here’s the accident – Pescara

PESCARA. Once the bumps to slow down the cars had disappeared, here was the first accident: yesterday morning on the park road, near via Milite ignoto, a lady on a bike was hit by a dark SUV, which crossed the cycle-pedestrian path used for the (future ) passage of the trolleybus hitting her head on.
The number of accidents on the park road remains under control at the moment, but the real post-work emergency for the trolleybus is due to the perception of danger, which has significantly increased according to what was told by citizens and activists of the “Strada park bene comune” association .
«The removal of the speed bumps that forced motorists to brake before crossing the park road, paid for 50 thousand euros by the Municipality, eliminated one of the first safety requirements. Furthermore, it must be considered that the traffic lights installed to signal the stop sign, when one day the new means of public transport will pass on the road, are still not working”, he said Ivano Angiolelli, president of the association, «It must be said, however, that the horizontal signs are there and would impose a stop on anyone who has to cross the park road. Many, however, are distracted or drive hastily, and so accidents like the one we witnessed happen. I would also like to recommend maximum attention to cyclists, so that they respect the highway code.”
