The Fire Inspector Pasquale Luzzaro and the Dos Team Leader (Director of Fire Extinguishing Operations), Francesco Lavigna of the provincial fire brigade command of Crotone participated in a technical day of in-depth study on forest fires held in Rome on 18 June at the School of Operational Training of the Fire Brigade, located in Montelibretti.
The day was organized in consideration of the hot season which has already begun during which, also considering the severe drought and lack of rain, the risk of forest fires will be very high.
Attending the training day were directors of firefighting operations, officials from the National Fire Brigade, representatives of Civil Protection arriving from all over Italy. In the presence of the commander of Montelibretti and the Lazio Regional Director, issues relating to forest fire prevention (Aib), safety in fire extinguishing operations, climatological and vegetation framework, climate change, drought indicators and more were addressed.
The exchange of opinions and methodologies on how to best deal with forest fires was fruitful, discussing it with the helicopter and Canadair pilots of the Fire Brigade fleet, who in this period, as the National State Fleet, are located in several areas of our nation ensuring a faster and more effective firefighting intervention assisted by ground teams and highly trained personnel, the DOS trained at the Lamezia Terme Educational Center over the last few years.
