During a long interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actress Ella Purnell spoke about his experience on the set of Fallout (with some brief mention of his character’s future) and the spirit with which he left the cast of Yellowjackets.

In the wake of enormous public and critical success, Fallout was renewed for a second season just a few days after its debut on Prime Video. Purnell, who admitted that he still doesn’t know precisely what will happen to Lucy in the next episodes, spoke of a possible evolution of her character, especially after the shocking revelations about her father: “Part of me thinks she will always be the same Lucy, the other part of me wonders how anyone can survive that betrayal, pain and trauma. His entire world was just torn apart, destroyed. In a second he disintegrated before her very eyes. He has always had deep and very strong beliefs, which however had their roots in the figure of his father. Now that she’s been stripped of that foundation, I don’t know how she’ll cope“. Purnell continued: “I feel like this is a defining moment for Lucy. I don’t want to sound too spiritual but whatever happens next, whatever person she turns into, she will become who she was always destined to be.“.

As anticipated at the beginning, the star also spoke about Yellowjackets (certainly to be counted among the most interesting works in which Ella Purnell took part) and about her deep bond of friendship with the other members of the cast of the series. From the beginning, Purnell knew that the stay of her character (Jackie Taylor, captain of the football team that gives the series its title) within the story would end after just one season. The young actress, however, could not have foreseen that the experience on set would be so engaging that she was hoping for last-minute changes to the script: “I knew the contract would only last one year, and that I wouldn’t be stuck there for seven years. At the time, it seemed like a really attractive situation. Then, when we started filming, I didn’t want the character to die. I tried to convince the writers to keep me on the show a little longer. They thought about it, and then they told me: ‘he has to go, we tried, we did our best’. After the farewell to the character of Jackie, a second season of the series was made; Season 3 of Yellowjackets is currently in production.
