The City of San Benedetto del Tronto is among the numerous delegations of cities from all over Europe participating in the meeting dedicated to the “ICC – Intelligent Cities Challenge” project of the European Commission which is held on 18 and 19 June in Porto (Portugal). The delegation, headed by the councilor for Community Policies Domenico Pellei It’s composed by Mauro Alfonsidirector of the Tourism Service, and prof. Guido Capanna Piscè from the University of Urbino, a collaborator of the organisation, took part in the activities of both days, making a contribution in a speech by prof. Capanna Piscè dedicated to the impact that “Local Green Deals” have on the sustainable development of the tourism sector.

The “Local Green Deals” are tools introduced in the broader context of the “European Green Turn” to give individual communities the opportunity to take an active part in the process of reconverting Europe in a sustainable way through communication and the involvement of stakeholders interest, so as to accelerate the green transition at local and regional level. The agenda of Porto saw the representatives of the local communities dedicate themselves, on the first day of 18 June, to in-depth analysis of the methods of use of the Local Green Deal and to discussion sessions on obstacles, challenges and experiences gained in the field through the guidance of sector experts and local entities who have already completed projects of this type. The day of Wednesday 19 June, however, will be dedicated to meetings with political representatives, with the assembly of Mayors of the ICC project as the main event of the morning, which will be followed in the afternoon by a plenary session during which the results will be illustrated of the advancements of the European Agenda resulting from the collaboration between cities and industry.
