At the National phase of the Pinocchio Trophy of Arco Olimpico Fitarco in Latina on 16 June, the boys of the Tuscany team earned the title of Italian Team Champions, with 4 athletes from the Grande Falco.
The Fitarco federation organized the very welcoming and well-served National final phase through the ASD Arco club Pontino in Piana delle Orme in Latina.
Our boys board the bus in Bettolle on June 15th, made available by Fitarco for the event, in which the Tuscan group meets up with athletes, technicians from the Tuscany region and the president of the regional Fitarco Committee Tiziano Faraoni arriving in Latina; the group settles into the accommodation, dinner and then relaxation after the trip, after which everyone goes to bed.
On the morning of the 16th everyone lined up, 300 kids from all over Italy with the Mameli anthem in the background, a very emotional moment. The race heats up and the athletes understand that it is not just a race between friends, but a real Italian Championship and coping with the tension and staying focused is not so simple.
The most talented ones start off well immediately like Vera, Filippo, Alessia, Sara and Dylan and the others join together very well to ensure that in the first 24 arrows Tuscany is among the top positions in the total score.
Pause and we start again.
In the second heat our boys don’t give up and Tuscany thus wins the Italian Team Championship of the Pinocchio Trophy, bringing the Trophy back to Tuscany after several years and a second national place for our Filippo Peria.
To make the team, the Region has called the first 15 classified boys, born between 2015 and 2011, among which 4 athletes are from Elba from the Grande Falco.
They qualified in both the winter and summer phases, to participate in the National Phase Pinocchio Trophy in Latina. I say with great pride the names of our fantastic four who grew up in our nursery Filippo Peria, fished out with great joy in the first reserves, due to a waiver of another boy, Lorenzo Palella, Alessia Grasso and Gioia Alessia Imbrisca who are committed with excellent results: Alessia comes 7th in the general classification and together with the champion Vera Serio from San Vincenzo they form an unbeatable couple.
Our Gioia fights, arriving very well in the middle of the table, as does Lorenzo plus the other 11 who push like crazy, obtaining the best score and beating everyone with a heart-pounding finish; After a slight nosebleed, Pippo asks for a break, the referee meanwhile lets the others finish the match, arriving at a provisional ranking in which Sicily was provisionally first and at 21 points, Tuscany second.
But never do the math before Pippo! Because as soon as Filippo recovers and makes the last volley, he scores 29 points, that is 10+ 10+ 9, thus shooting the last arrow for the title of first place for Tuscany and its splendid second place in the national rankings. Honor and congratulations again to Lorenzo Palella, Alessia Grasso, Gioia Imbrisca and Filippo Peria for having brought Elba to the top and to all of the Grande Falco.
